The Town House Bar aka The Original Jerry's Nugget
In 1968, Jerry's Nugget expanded as the "two Jerrys" bought out their closest competitor across the street from them called the Bonanza Club. Bonanza Club hosted the city's tallest sign - the famous oil derrick land mark. The big move and acquisition brought an extra 10,000 square feet of casino real estate with a 400-seat Bingo Hall and 300+ slot and video poker machines.
In 1982, another major expansion involved the addition of the race and sports book, another bar, plus nearly 700 slot, video poker, and keno games. Purchase of an adjacent property allowed for additional parking and future expansion.
In 1996, Jerry's Nugget once again expanded due to continued growth and customer recognition. This multi-million dollar expansion added a theater lounge, another restaurant, state-of-the-art kitchen facilities and in-house bakery, plus more space for gaming amenities. The exterior received a face lift with a grand entrance complete with a marble fountain and garden setting.
In 2009, Jerry's Nugget began another face lift, updating the exterior ambience. The paint of grey and earth-red tones reflects an industrial, modern texture. A graphic mural of the famous oil derrick is situated on the east side of the building with a prime view of Las Vegas Blvd.
Jerry's Nugget Casino still remains a family owned business. The ownership has passed down to Angelo Stamis, son of Jerry Stamis and Angelo's two sons, Jeremy Stamis and Joseph Stamis.
50 Years Later
In 2014, Jerry's Nugget celebrated a monumental anniversary, with 50 years of outstanding food, service, and gaming. The golden anniversary was celebrated throughout the year and started with the induction of Jerry's Nugget Day, proclaimed by the City of North Las Vegas on January 15. Other celebrations included the creation of a commemorative $5 gaming chip, newly-designed deck of playing cards, The Main Bar Anniversary Cocktail, and the Jerry's Nugget Bakery Almond Crunch Cake.
